BCAP and Atlas enjoyed a sunny day on Pearl Street Mall promoting HIV awareness and World AIDS Day from 10am to 4pm on Friday, November 30, 2012. The World AIDS Day theme was “Getting to Zero.” Zero New HIV Infections. Zero Discrimination. Zero AIDS Related Deaths. This campaign signifes a push towards greater access to HIV prevention and treatment for all. 19 Atlas volunteers reached over 200 community members who signed our awareness board, took a photo with an awareness sign, filled out a survey on HIV stigma, pinned a red ribbon to their clothing, stocked up on condoms and lubrication, or headed over to BCAP for a free HIV test. 6 Atlas volunteers provided HIV testing and counseling to 26 individuals who updated their HIV status.
