Frank O’Caña Tapped to Lead BCAP as Executive Director
Boulder County AIDS Project’s (BCAP) Board of Directors is proud and excited to announce their selection of Frank O’Caña as the Agency’s next Executive Director.
He succeeds Ana Hopperstad, who has been BCAP’s Executive Director since 2008.
Frank is recognized as a leader in HIV Prevention in Colorado. He holds fourteen years of nonprofit management experience, and has served as BCAP’s Prevention Director and a senior member of the BCAP Management Team for the past eight years.
During his tenure, Frank developed the agency’s longstanding Community Outreach, HIV Testing, and Speakers Bureau programs, continually increasing outcomes throughout the Agency’s service area. He helped lead expansion of the Agency’s services, and associated funding mechanisms, to include Hepatitis C Testing and Education and Syringe Access.
Frank has worked hand-in-hand with retiring Executive Director, Ana Hopperstad. Ana shares, “I am confident Frank will continue BCAP’s legacy of excellence. Frank is both well-known and well-respected in the Colorado HIV community. As BCAP’s new leader, Frank will ensure BCAP continues as a well-respected partner among other service providers in our network.”
Frank has been integral to the development of BCAP’s current strategic plan and has actively participated in BCAP’s fundraising activities over many years. He has been engaged in statewide, regional, and local community advisory groups that influence BCAP’s work.
BCAP Board President Carolyn Powell says “We are deeply appreciative of the leadership provided by Ana Hopperstad over the last fourteen years. She will be missed and we wish her the very best in her retirement. We are confident in Frank’s ability to guide BCAP’s future as a natural progression for both himself and the Agency. We trust that BCAP is in excellent hands with Frank O’Caña.”
This leadership appointment is effective on September 1, 2018.
